Steven Potts, CEO of the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIAV), said as part of the BIAV's Life's Better With A Boat program, aimed at increasing participation in boating lifestyle, a Weather and Boating video will be posted weekly every Thursday on the Life's Better With A Boat website at: www.lifesbetterwithaboat.com.au
The weekly video segment is fronted by well known boating expert, Darren Finkelstein 'The Boat Guy', the author of: Honey, let's go BOATING! - 101 bucket list of boating destinations (Victorian Edition) and the award winning bestseller: Honey, let's buy a BOAT!
Mr Potts said the concept of the weather and boating video forecasts is also aimed at making the information mobile and easily shared with the entire family as part of the program to promote the benefits and opportunities of family boating.
Continuing the promotion of Boating Destination Tourism, the weekly broadcast will also promote events around the bays and from regional tourism areas throughout Victoria.
The Weather Report is supported by links to over one hundred and twenty webcams to check boat launching ramps and local conditions.
There are currently 268,336 current Marine Licences, 172,805 registered boats and 996,000* boating participants in Victoria. (*Morgan Poll 2012 - Victorian and Tasmanian)
90% of Victorian recreation vessels are trailered, less than 8 metres in length with 68% of registered boats being operated on Port Phillip and Western Port Bays.
